Programmed cell death in inflammation: interactions and holistic perspective
Abstract Programmed cell death (PCD) is a major regulatory mechanism that maintains tissue homeostasis and immune balance and strongly influences the initiation, progression and resolution of inflammation. Although apoptosis, pyroptosis, necroptosis and ferroptosis are individual PCD modes that are regulated by different molecular mechanisms, they are not mutually exclusive in inflammatory microenvironments.
A combined carbohydrate antigen 125 and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio score stratifies time-window-specific recurrence after pancreatic cancer surgery
Abstract Background: Early recurrence after pancreatic resection is a major cause of treatment failure in pancreatic cancer. We evaluated whether a score combining carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) with the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) could stratify recurrence risk across clinically relevant time windows. Methods: This retrospective cohort included 1,618 patients who underwent pancreatic cancer surgery.
Association between pre-delivery maternal red blood cell distribution width and birth weight discordance in twin pregnancies: a twin pregnancy cohort study
Abstract Background: Twin growth discordance, commonly defined as an inter-twin birth weight difference ≥20%, is linked to increased neonatal morbidity, but simple maternal laboratory markers to aid late-pregnancy risk assessment are limited.
Advances in temporizing treatment strategies and associated complications for posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus in preterm infants
Abstract Posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH) is a severe complication of intraventricular hemorrhage in preterm infants. It can cause varying degrees of brain injury, neurological impairment, and even death. The pathogenesis of PHH is complex, and several temporizing treatment strategies are currently available. However, these approaches differ in their associated complications and long-term outcomes, and no consensus has been reached regarding the optimal temporizing intervention.

Lightweight large language models for early sepsis prediction via a semantic abstraction rule engine
Abstract Sepsis remains a major global health challenge due to its high mortality rate and the difficulty of predicting its onset from nonspecific early symptoms. To address this, we explored the feasibility of using fine-tuned small-scale large language models (LLMs) to perform accurate sepsis prediction from structured clinical time-series data.
Gigas‐Cell1 mediated in vivo haploid induction in Brassica napus: A step forward for hybrid development and crop improvement
Double haploid technology is widely used to produce homozygous line within 1 year. In Rapeseed (Brassica napus) breeding in vitro pollen culture is used to produce haploid plants, which is time consuming and varietal dependent. Recent progress of in vivo haploid induction techniques in various crops through editing different genes, CENH3, KPL, PLA1, DMP, PLD3 and POD65 has facilitated successful haploid induction (Yao et al., 2018).

The research perspectives and frontiers on radiotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma: a bibliometric analysis and systematic review
1Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Chengdu Second People’s Hospital, Chengdu, Sichuan, China 2Department of Oncology, Chengdu Second People’s Hospital, Chengdu, Sichuan, China Introduction: Research into radiotherapy(RT) for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) has significantly advanced, underscoring its critical role in systemic therapy. However, there remains a notable lack of quantitative and analytical studies specifically addressing RT in the context of HCC.

A quasi-experimental study of fresh oxygen flow on patients’ oxygen reserve during mask-assisted ventilation under general anesthesia induction
Introduction Pre-oxygenation is a routine clinical anesthesia procedure given before anesthesia induction and tracheal intubation (1). Its purpose is to improve the oxygen reserve in the patient’s lungs and provide sufficient time for establishing an accurate artificial airway during anesthesia induction so as to avoid hypoxia (2–4). Previous studies have also shown that pre-oxygenation reduces hypoxemia during induction of anesthesia (5–7).
The median effective dose of propofol combined with butorphanol during artificial abortion: a randomized controlled trial
1Department of Anesthesiology, The Affiliated Shunde Hospital of Jinan University, Foshan, China 2Department of Anesthesiology, The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University, Foshan, China Objective: Propofol-opioids are the most common drug combination and can reduce the dose of propofol and the incidence of adverse events in painless artificial abortion.
Explainable ensemble machine learning model for prediction of 28-day mortality risk in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury
Introduction Sepsis continues to be a major cause of life-threatening conditions in critically ill patients. The excessive pro- or anti-inflammatory response can lead to cellular and organ dysfunction, ultimately resulting in death (1, 2). The most significant sepsis-associated organ disorder is acute kidney injury (AKI), which has a high prevalence (2, 3). AKI is an independent risk factor for high mortality (3, 4), and contributes to 58.6% of the excess attributable mortality (5).
A Method for Monthly Extreme Precipitation Forecasting with Physical Explanations
Abstract : Monthly extreme precipitation (EP) forecasts are of vital importance in water resources management and storage behind dams. Machine learning (ML) is extensively used for forecasting monthly EP, and improvements in model performance have been a popular issue. The innovation of this study is summarized as follows.
