Respect for the Fans
☀️ Good Morning: Mets fans proved this season, yet again, that we are among the greatest in the sport. How many clubs would have such rollicking crowds in summer games when their team is already out of contention? We can argue whether it went too far, but how many shower their former players with such deafening displays of appreciation when they make their first return to Citi Field? It’s a passionate fan base. And an intelligent one.
Closing Time
Blake and Peter offer their thoughts on keeping Andy Green on as manager, invite another guest on to discuss Brett Baty’s resurgence, and more!
Blake and JB discuss the week that was with Pete Alonso returning to Citi Field for the first time in a strange uniform. They are also joined by National League Town (a Mets podcast) host Jeff Hysen to breakdown the fan reaction, who the next manager might be, and more!

Surprise!
☀️ Good Morning: What do you know, the depleted Mets came from behind against a top closer, to win an extra inning game on the road against a contending team. In downing the Guardians 6-5, the Amazins clinched the 3-game set and were — dare I say it — fun to watch? I titled this morning’s newsletter “Surprise” for a few reasons.

Tricks of the Trade
☀️ Good Morning: For what it’s worth, the Mets pulled out an 8-3 win against the Dodgers on Sunday to avoid a season sweep. They relied on something of a typical formula on the pitching side: Freddy Peralta kept the game close enough, allowing 3 runs (2 earned), but once again couldn’t make it into the 5th after surrendering 8 baserunners in 4 innings.

A Bo-nafide turnaround?
☀️ Good Morning: The Mets salvaged the getaway game against the Reds yesterday to avoid a sweep, displaying the kind of pitching from Nolan McLean and offense from their stars that David Stearns had projected all off-season. If Stearns were to script how this year would have gone, it might look something like Wednesday: McLean goes seven strong, fanning nine in an 9-1 victory. The Mets’ bullpen continues to lock down the late innings.
Final West Coast Swing

Vote of Confidence?
Blake and Peter take stock of the team with a new feature — the Official Mets Fix "Confidence Meter." Have the 2026 Mets shown enough for fans to believe that a 2024-style turnaround is possible?
Rotation change?
Morning Dose: Wednesday, May 27 ☀️ Good Morning: Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but… it was another terrible Mets game Tuesday night. The team still can’t produce runs outside of Juan Soto, who plated the only two runs in the Amazins’ 7-2 loss, with a two-run blast. That’s now six straight games with two runs or less for the club.
Is the fun back at Queens?
Blake and Peter break down the signs of optimism after some dramatic wins and hopeful developments -- before concluding with some gripes about John Smoltz, ABS challenges and the Mets’ bizarre schedule.

Petered Out
☀️Good Morning: When it rains, it pours. Quite literally for the Mets. After giving fans an ever so slight glimpse of sunshine during Tuesday’s 8–0 victory, the heavy clouds of the current season quickly returned to Citi Field on Wednesday. 😡 SUMS IT UP: It’s not so much the Mets lost 14–2 (although, they lost 14–2) that should anger people. It’s how they lost that encapsulates everything that is frustrating fans with this current administration. David Peterson is lost.

It has happened!
☀️ Good Morning: It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t cathartic. Look, it wasn’t all that inspiring, if we’re being honest. But for the first time in two weeks, theNew York Mets have won a Major League Baseball game. We saw the return of Juan Soto, who pretty much looked like Juan Soto despite a long absence. And we got some great pitching, from starter ClayHolmes all the way through the last out from Luke Weaver (more on all that in a minute) to close out the 3-2 win.
Still too early to panic?
Current time: 0:00 / Total time: -34:47 Audio playback is not supported on your browser. Please upgrade. Blake and Peter vent their frustrations about the team’s lackluster play and flawed roster construction. They discuss the losing streak and why it feels bigger than just a bad week — and what that might mean for Carlos Mendoza and David Stearns. Is this just an early-season spiral, or are the Mets already showing us who they really are?
Budding Ace
☀️ Good Morning: For those of you who stayed up to watch the Mets fall 2-1 for their seventh straight loss, I’m sorry. They simply find new ways to lose each game, this time wasting an absolute gem from Nolan McLean, who more than held his own in a pitchers’ duel with Yoshinobu Yamamoto through seven innings.

Vibe Coding Pitching Stock
☀️ Good Morning: It was a relatively slow day in Mets Land, which gives us a great opportunity to share a new Q&A with Robert Stock — the right-handed pitcher who appeared with the Mets in 2021 and was signed by the organization to a minor league deal this winter — about a fascinating new pitching platform he built from AI. 🙋 Q&A WITH ROBERT STOCK Unless you’ve been buried under a data center, there are few topics receiving more attention than AI these days.

No Imai
☀️ Good Morning: As we inch closer to spring training, there are still several attractive players available in free agency and trade. We know at least one of them is going to end up signing or being traded for less than we have imagined. Stearns needs to make sure that favorable deal ends up being with the Mets.

Surprise Us
☀️ GOOD MORNING: Baseball can still surprise us. It surprised many in the first inning last night when Rule 5.07(b)(3)(C) turned what appeared to be a miraculous catch and potential inning-ending double play into a critical first run (and later another). And it could surprise us in the coming days (and perhaps weeks) if new heroes can emerge from a Mets rotation that has tried its best to become villains.
