Exploring the potential effects of different frequencies of flashing light stimulation on alleviating mental fatigue: a behavioral and EEG study
Abstract Introduction: Mental fatigue, characterized by reduced attention and prolonged reaction times, is a critical issue in professions requiring high vigilance, such as driving and air traffic control. It contributes to numerous accidents each year. At the neural level, mental fatigue is associated with alterations in cortical oscillatory activity, particularly in the alpha and beta frequency bands, which reflect changes in alertness and cognitive engagement.
The coordination of dehydration tolerance and avoidance in oaks is mediated by leaf habit across a precipitation gradient
1 INTRODUCTION As an essential part of the Earth's ecosystem, forests cover approximately 31% of the world's land area (FAO, 2020) and provide habitat for around 60,000 tree species (Beech et al., 2017). They play a vital role in global carbon cycles by storing nearly half of terrestrial carbon and sequestering up to one-third of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions (Pan et al., 2011).

Biotopologically structured composite materials for low temperature energy storage
Biotopologically structured composite materials for low temperature energy storage Conventional compositing methods for energy storage materials produce disconnected ion/electron channels, leading to low energy and power densities at low temperatures. This study leverages the advantages of seaweed cell walls with topologically ordered ion transport channels and natural doping with heteroatoms, to develop an energy-saving fabriation strategy based on electrodeposition.

Coiled Carbon Nanotube Fibers Sheathed by a Reinforced Liquid Crystal Elastomer for Strong and Programmable Artificial Muscles
Fibers of liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) as promising artificial muscle show ultralarge and reversible contractile strokes. However, the contractile force is limited by the poor mechanical properties of the LCE fibers. Herein, we report high-strength LCE fibers by introducing a secondary network into the single-network LCE. The double-network LCE (DNLCE) shows considerable improvements in tensile strength (313.9%) and maximum actuation stress (342.8%) compared to pristine LCE.

Alanine Substitution to Determine the Effect of LR5 and YR6 Rice Peptide Structure on Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activity
Abstract : The relationship between the structure of peptides LR5 (LHKFR) and YR6 (YGLYPR) and their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity remains unclear. Herein, leucine, tyrosine, proline, and phenylalanine at different positions in the peptides were replaced by Alanine (Ala), and two new pentapeptides (AR5 and LAR5) and four hexapeptides (AGR6, YAR6, YLR6, and YGR6) were obtained.
Pretension-Free and Self-Recoverable Coiled Artificial Muscle Fibers with Powerful Cyclic Work Capability
Similar to natural muscle fibers, coiled artificial muscle fibers provide a straightforward contraction. However, unlike natural muscle fibers, their recovery from the contracted state to the initial state requires high stress, resulting in almost zero work during a full actuation cycle. Herein, a self-recoverable coiled artificial muscle fiber was prepared by conformally coating an elastic carbon nanotube (CNT) fiber with a very thin liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) sheath.
Boosting Higher Selectivity for Thymol Hydrogenation Reaction over Ni/Ce Catalyst
Abstract : The production of menthol via thymol hydrogenation is an industrial technology but is challenging due to the unsatisfied selectivity to menthol. Herein, Ni/Ce catalysts were prepared and used in thymol hydrogenation. A high selectivity of menthol was achieved over Ni4/Ce1 catalysts under the optimized reaction condition. Ce incorporation can improve both the activity of Ni catalyst and the selectivity to menthol. To reveal the functions of Ce, catalyst characterizations were conducted.

Measuring fluence distribution of intense short laser based on the radiochromic effect
Abstract This Letter demonstrates a novel, to the best of our knowledge, method to measure the fluence distribution of an intense short laser pulse based on the radiochromic effect. We discovered that an intense short laser pulse can induce the color reaction with a radiochromic film (RCF). Further, the net optical density of an irradiated RCF is proportional to the fluence of the incident laser pulse in a large range (${2 {-} 120}\;{{{\rm mJ}/{\rm cm}}^2}$).

Characterization and evaluation of avermectin solid nanodispersion prepared by microprecipitation and lyophilisation techniques
The avermectin solid nanodispersion was prepared by freeze-drying the avermectin aqueous dispersion that was produced by microprecipitation. As reported previously [23], the properties of the solid nanodispersion significantly depended on the particle size and distribution of the pre-prepared aqueous dispersion, so the composition and content of surfactants in the nanoformulation were optimized using the mean particle size and PDI of the aqueous dispersion as evaluation indices.
