NEW YEARS RESOLUTION - Stop the Killings of Innocent Palestinian Families

|
By Bob BOb, Bob Bob
| Change.org
The personal story of countless innocent Palestinian families is one of unimaginable pain and suffering. They have fallen victim to the brutality of Israel's military, despite their compliance and surrender under occupation and ~600 checkpoints. Officers callously fire bombs and shots at these families, who are deprived of safety, food, sanitation, and peace for months on end.

With the vaccine rollout not as quick as we would like, it’s important to stay safe. I still want to get out to photo locations to get away and create. Outfitting the car for boondocking — or car camping — has been my ticket. In today’s article I head to the California desert, safely. When Covid-19 came to town, finding time on my hands, I fixed up my Toyota RAV 4 for safe travel. With the ability to sleep in the car equipped with a kitchen as well I feel comfortable to hit the photo road.

Photographing snow: Tips to help make your snow white

We don’t get a lot of snow here in Sedona, AZ. When it falls with accumulation, it’s an event. My having made mistakes in the past can help you in the future. To use a couple Disney characters, keep your snow from turning into “Drizella” and make it “Snow White.” Ever had your snow images come out dingy and gray? Me too. If you depend upon your in-camera meter for exposure there is part of your problem. The camera’s meter is designed to give an overall exposure of 18% gray.

In part one of this article, I showed how I capture and pre-process files in Adobe Camera Raw. Then I show the assembly of a two row panoramic capture using Photomerge. Now, it’s time to tweak the resulting files using Photoshop and the Adobe Camera Raw filter. Processing after Adobe Camera Raw My first stop was to get the sky straight. I selected a section of the center sky, and put it on its own layer. That selection was dragged to the side and the Mode was changed to Darken.

With winter officially underway, my wife decided it’s time for warmer colors in the bathroom. If you may recall, I created some new images for the spring season with close-ups of white orchids. I ordered the Xpozer 4-Pack and added an extra frame. With about four minutes of work, we got out the dragonfly art, removed the orchid images and replaced them with the dragonflies and got them back on the wall. The orchids were rolled up and into storage. Done.

Embrace your ISO

Often I hear from photographers questions about the noise level in a camera at higher ISO settings. They express a feeling that there is too much noise and that is a problem. I suggest that changes are here — and more are coming. High ISO equals too much noise (not necessarily) The statement above — high ISO equals too much noise — is not necessarily true as camera technology improves. In the past, I might have agreed wholeheartedly. Noise in many older cameras was extremely objectionable.
