With all due respect to singer Andy Williams who crooned about Christmas, it’s the wonderful time of the year. Yes, poker fans and dreamers, the World Series of Poker Main Event begins today.

Michael Mizrachi is the freaking man. Micheal Mizrachi Mizrachi won his ninth World Series of Poker bracelet in the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship in dominating fashion last night, seizing the chip lead on the first day of the event and never let it go. In an event that attracted 836 of the world’s best PLO players, it really shouldn’t be this easy for a player to go rail-to-rail — that is, unless the player is named Michael Mizrachi.

Josh Reichard is one of the most accomplished mid-stakes tournament players in the country and he has 17 WSOP Circuit rings to prove it. Heck, he’s even in the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour’s Hall of Fame, and last week, the man from Wisconsin crossed a big lifetime poker achievement off his list at the World Series of Poker when he secured his first bracelet.
