OKTIBBEHA COUNTY — Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at the Links Apartments that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies responded at about 5 a.m. Wednesday to reports of shots fired at the apartment complex west of Starkville, Sheriff Shank Phelps told The Dispatch. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was airlifted in stable condition to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Phelps said.

Caledonia Water and Sewer’s superintendent has been placed on a two-week unpaid suspension following his arrest for allegedly fighting his son and threatening his family with a pistol. The decision was made at a special-call meeting of the Caledonia board of aldermen Tuesday during executive session, Mayor Betty Darnell said. “We just went over all the material that we had (and) that was just the outcome of it,” Darnell said.

Baptist Memorial Health Care is aiming to hire 100 new physicians over the next five years to meet the demands of the Golden Triangle. Those new hires are just one of several ways Baptist is planning to improve its practices in Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties, Justin Rhodes, CEO of Baptist Medical Group, told the Rotary Club of Columbus on Tuesday at Lion Hills Center.
