Bradley Hook’s Biography

Brad Hook helps leaders and teams build sustainable high performance.

An author, speaker, podcast host and founder based in New Zealand, Brad has spent two decades on a single question: how do people stay well and perform at their best in a world that keeps accelerating? His work blends psychology, ancient wisdom and practical tools, built on a simple thesis: high performance is not extractive. Burn bright, not out.

He is the author of Start With Values: How to Build a Life with Meaning and Purpose (Hatherleigh Press, distributed by Penguin Random House), a practical guide to discovering, living and sharing your core values, and Resilience Mastery (2020). A new book is on the way.

Brad hosts FLAME with Brad Hook, a podcast now past 120 episodes, featuring conversations with psychologists, authors, adventurers and business leaders on resilience, purpose, values and performance.

As a keynote speaker and workshop leader he has presented to more than 100,000 people across five continents, working with organisations including PwC, Shell, Electronic Arts, Bridgestone, Fletcher Building, Sport New Zealand and government agencies in New Zealand and Canada.

Formerly a partner, head of innovation and CEO at the Resilience Institute, Brad rebuilt the company's flagship Resilience Diagnostic and created its successor assessment, refined through five rounds of psychometric validation and used by global firms including PwC, Nestlé and AXA. His resilience research spans survey data from 26,000 people worldwide. In 2018 he built one of the first biometric AI well-being platforms and founded the Values Institute, whose free values-discovery tools have reached tens of thousands of people in more than 100 countries.

Today he leads FLAME, the Sustainable High Performance Program, helping teams build capacity across five dimensions: belonging, purpose, agility, mindset and vitality. He sees this as the natural evolution of the resilience tradition: from bouncing back to burning bright, sustainably.

Brad began his career in digital media, spending a decade alongside Life by Design founder Ian Hutchinson and building MeCentral.com, a well-being platform adopted by five of Australia's ten largest companies. He remains a builder at heart; his current tools, assessments and interactive experiments live at flame.live and bradleyhook.com.

When he is not on stage or in the studio, Brad is usually in the ocean, and he writes occasional essays on surf culture at surfd.com.

Brad is available for interviews, expert commentary and podcast appearances on resilience, burnout, workplace well-being, values and sustainable high performance.
