Good Thursday morning! Satellite shows a weak upper disturbance over eastern Arkansas and northwest Mississippi this morning, and thunderstorms developed with this feature last night. With high pressure to the east, whatever is left of this disturbance will move into southcentral Missouri this afternoon and is expected to trigger a few thunderstorms. Moisture has increased today, and some minor upper energy may kick up a few storms.

Happy Wednesday morning! We ended June with our hottest temperature so far this summer, at least in Springfield, with a high of 92°. It was only the second time this June that Springfield hit 90° or higher, matching 2017. Springfield only hit 90° or higher twice in June. Upper high pressure is still centered just east of the Ozarks in the Tennessee Valley, and thanks to a very slight cooling of the air above us, afternoon highs will be a couple of degrees cooler compared to yesterday.

Happy Tuesday! The hot temperatures will continue today, and, in fact, should be a little warmer than Monday. With little or no cloud cover, temperatures will be a couple degrees hotter than Monday. With upper high pressure nearby and a slightly drier atmosphere, we should see blue sky today with few if any clouds. The heat index will be in the upper 90s to around 106° over the area. Once again, the heat index will be above 100°.
