Husband accused of bludgeoning wife to death with flashlight in front of 3 kids
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX/Gray News) - A Vermont man is facing charges after police say he bludgeoned his wife to death with a large flashlight. Burlington Police say they received multiple 911 calls just before 6 a.m. Saturday reporting a fight. They responded to an apartment and found a woman unresponsive in bed with head injuries. She was taken the hospital, where she was pronounced dead Sunday evening. The victim’s name has not been released.

Father of 5 killed in home by bullet believed fired by hunter, deputies say
SWEET HOME, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) - A 54-year-old man was killed Saturday when a bullet passed through his home, according to authorities in Oregon. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office believes the shot came from a nearby hunter. Deputies found a partially dressed deer near where the shots were fired, Sheriff Michelle Duncan said. The hunter left the scene. It is unclear whether the hunter knew Robert Church had been hit.
Former officer identified as suspect in cold case murder
CHICAGO (CNN) - Chicago police say they have solved the murder of an 8-year-old girl that happened more than 65 years ago, identifying a former Chicago police officer as the killer. Authorities say Thomas F. McInerney Jr. murdered Gloria Kowalewicz shortly after joining the Chicago Police Department in 1959. Kowalewicz was found shot to death in 1960 after she was abducted while walking to church. Chicago police collected evidence at the time, including a fingerprint from the girl’s purse.
