July 30: Another heat advisory issued ahead of record heat today

High temperatures will reach 96 degrees in parts of South Florida Thursday afternoon with a heat index up to 105-110 degrees. This is expected to break the record high of 95 degrees from 2015. We will not have much relief from rain with only a 20% chance of a stray shower or two, mainly in Broward County. Most of us will be completely dry. Moisture starts moving back into the area Friday afternoon with spotty showers and thunderstorms developing.

July 29: Heat advisories issued for South Florida ahead of record high temperatures

Drier air has moved into the area with a bit of Saharan dust. You’ll notice the extra haze on the horizon in the coming days. This will work to limit our rain chances today through Friday. It will not be completely dry, but only isolated thunderstorms will manage to punch through the drier air. Rain chances will be no more than 20-30%. Temperatures take over as the big weather story. Highs will be in the middle 90s, which is record territory.

July 28: Spotty storms again today before drier weather and record heat

Today is a transition day into a drier pattern. We will still have some thunderstorms developing, but not as many as yesterday. Coverage will be at about 50%, so some of us will miss out. An isolated storm or two could be strong with strong wind gusts and frequent lightning. High temperatures will still be above average in the low to middle 90s. We are putting the rainy season on pause again Wednesday through Friday with far fewer storms.
