Senate Judiciary Committee Unanimously Advances NO FAKES Act

The U.S. Capitol Building (Courtesy of Wikimedia Commons) On June 18, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved the Recording Academy-backed NO FAKES Act (S. 4591/H.R.8915) by voice vote, advancing the bipartisan legislation to the full Senate for consideration. The historic vote brings Congress one step closer to establishing the first comprehensive federal protections against the unauthorized use of a person’s voice, image, and likeness through AI-generated digital replicas.

For more than five decades, Earth, Wind & Fire has not only entertained their fans around the world but served as a critical source of inspiration, as seen in the new Amir “Questlove” Thompson documentary: “Earth, Wind & Fire (to Be Celestial vs. That’s the Weight of the World),” streaming on HBO Max. “I’m honored to tell the story of Earth, Wind & Fire and the deep meaning behind their message and music,” said Questlove in a Warner Bros statement.

International Association of Business Communicators Heritage Region Silver Quill Award of Merit

2018 - Communication Skills - Writing

Presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) ten-state Heritage Region for my article "The Changing Face of Caregivers" published in the Washington Informer newspaper on June 13, 2018. The article profiled two Black men, one Gen X and the other a Boomer, who were both caregivers for their wives. Covered were the roller coaster of being a caregiver, including juggling a career, managing emotions with other family members, finding help from local agencies, the onset of a sudden setback, and challenges in transporting the loved one.
