Redding Christian football aims to build on historic 2025 season

Aug. 12, 2026, 10:28 a.m. PT The Redding Christian football team made history in 2025. For the first time ever, the Lions brought home a CIF state title after shutting down Woodbridge of Irvine 16-0 on Dec. 13. The win alone was historic, but what the Lions were able to accomplish from their first game against Durham on Aug. 29, 2025 to their win over Woodbridge was a level of dominance the North State has rarely seen. The Lions notched 15 wins in 15 games.

In the first game of the 2025 high school football season, U-Prep star running back Ty Wurzer broke his leg. Wurzer was coming off a stellar junior season with the Panthers in which he rushed for 1,445 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was named to the All-Northern Athletic League team, and his 1,445 yards ranked fourth in single-season rushing in program history.
