The modern-day La Flor de Zaida is a very different brand from the one launched in 1920 by Manuel Hernandez. However, the roots, spirit, and even some of the original logo persist today. According to the La Flor de Zaida website, Hernandez founded the brand in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, wanting to create a luxury line of high-quality cigars. In the end, the brand fell by the wayside and was all but forgotten until Antonino Piredda bought the rights to it.
