What was your first job as a journalist?

Writing for CIO.com and Coruzant Tech.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Unfortunately, yes. I learned to type on one since that's all my school had at the time. Makes you grateful for the technology today.

How is social media changing news?

Unfortunately, most social media, media platforms are censoring content. Yes, good content. Too much bias from those that are the gatekeepers

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Giving back and sharing your knowledge. Collaborating with others and growing a synergistic community.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Share exciting, positive stories about how technology and new processes are helping others improve the wellbeing of mankind and business!

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Too many to list, honestly. Probably at least 20.

What's your favorite social network?

LinkedIn, followed closely by Twitter. I'm on all though!

Who do you wish followed you?

Elon Musk.

Why did you become a journalist?

While I had the capability to write, I was more interested in sharing my experience and knowledge with others. I like to give back and help.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Giving back to the veteran community by writing my story as a veteran. I lost several Marine brothers during my service.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Lean forward. Be engaged. Help others. The more you can do this, you'll become knowledgeable and a source for others to both share and learn.

When's the best time to pitch you?

24/7. Yes, I'm that guy - go-getter.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Best pitch was from a person (agency) that was genuinely interested in me and how she could provide value to our professional relationship.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

No introduction of who the person/agency was, just a lengthy press release that was hard to read.

What's your favorite drink?

Morning: clean and green. Afternoon: kick of caffeine. Evening: Depends on the event.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Travelling physically or virtually - on a quest to meet all my LinkedIn connections around the world. Yes, all 30,000+ of them.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

People think I am all business. I'm actually energetic and funny.
