(WAVY) — Norfolk State University announced on Thursday that it will sponsor a women's flag football program that is set to begin in spring 2027.The Spartans plan to ultimately play in the MEAC, but their opening season schedule will probably be a mix of MEAC teams and other close-by colleges that have women's flag football such as Chowan and Virginia Wesleyan (Batten).

NORFOLK (WAVY) – Norfolk State University announced on Thursday that it will sponsor a women’s flag football program that is set to begin in the Spring of 2027. The Spartans plan to ultimately play in the MEAC, but their opening season schedule will probably be a mix of MEAC teams and other close by colleges that have women’s flag football such as Chowan and Virginia Wesleyan (Batten). Darryl Bullock has been named the Spartans head coach.
