Former Nebraska OL Dwayne Johnson Transfers To Texas Tech
Once a Husker always a Husker, but for now, time for the next chapter. #GunsUp pic.twitter.com/3snmDfSrBt I had mentioned how he was off the roster and wasn't seen from this past Spring.
Nebraska vs. Rutgers Game Recap: Three Things From The Huskers 27-17 Victory
In the third quarter, they were ready to fire the HC and tell the Captain at Quarterback to sit a spell. In the end, it’s a win after a tumultuous week in North Stadium for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Behind a stellar defensive performance, an 100 yard result from Devine Ozigbo and a massive ownage of Time of Possession in the second half, the Huskers came from behind with timely plays to defeat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 27-17 Saturday afternoon.
The Morning After: Northern Illinois
Steven Sipple, Lincoln Journal Star: Latest loss severely tests any sense of optimism for Riley’s program I'm guessing Mike Riley can maintain his sense of humor despite Saturday's proceedings. He's 64. He's seen his share of good times and bad times and everything in between during four decades of football coaching. But, yes, Saturday was a distinctly bad time, as Nebraska dropped a 21-17 decision on its home field to Northern Illinois, a Mid-American Conference team that was 5-7 last season.
Nebraska Football’s Song Hasn’t Changed In 15 Years, And That’s The Problem
I suppose there’s some of us in the Nebraska fanbase that think they are in a Groundhog Day sequence. And, for the most part, they’re right. But it’s not just since Mike Riley’s been in Lincoln. He hasn’t helped the cause. But, before you get your nostrils up in a hizzy about what needs to be done TODAY about Mike Riley, Shawn Eichorst and any other son of a bitch in North Stadium over losing to Northern Illinois, we got to call ourselves out.
Nebraska Football: List Of Visitors For The Northern Illinois Game
The return of a football game to Memorial Stadium for the Nebraska Cornhuskers also means visiting recruits taking in their official visit for the Huskers. The Huskers are focusing their big numbers for two home games this year in Wisconsin and Ohio State. Even with those games seemingly being the big focal points, there is some good talent heading to Lincoln this weekend as the Northern Illinois Huskies are the opponents. As always, this is a fluid, live list.
The Morning After: Oregon
Tom Shatel, Omaha WH: No moral victories for Huskers, but no insurmountable defeat against Oregon Things could be better. They could also be worse. There’s no consolation in Nebraska football, and there wasn’t as the men in red walked toward their locker room late Saturday afternoon. There were a lot of emotions after a madcap game, and frustration was first and foremost on their faces.
Nebraska vs. Oregon Recap: Huskers Come Back Falls Short In 42-35 Loss To Ducks
Tanner Lee picked a hell of a day to have a bad game. Bob Diaco picked the wrong time of the game to come alive. It was a valiant comeback, but in the end, it fell short. Tanner Lee tried to save the day, but his fourth interception of the day sealed the Oregon Ducks’ victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 42-35, in front of a very Sea Of Red sellout at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. The Huskers (1-1) tried to stage a comeback after the Ducks (2-0) decided to go very conservative in the second half.
Nebraska Defensive Coordinator Bob Diaco Talks After Monday’s Practice
With all the hullabaloo between Saturday night’s win for Nebraska over Arkansas State and Mike Riley’s press conference today, Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco has probably seen a lot of response over his non-speaking evening Saturday. On Monday afternoon, Mike Riley took responsibility of Diaco’s lack of an appearance on Saturday, saying that the two had spoken a couple weeks before and not talked about the situation since then. “Part of it actually came a couple weeks ago.
The Morning After: Arkansas State
Tom Shatel, Omaha World-Herald: On a nervous first night, Tre’ Bryant is Nebraska’s #1 weapon The good news is Nebraska won its opener, 43-36, over Arkansas State. But it was a good showing in many other ways on a wild and crazy night at Memorial Stadium. For instance, the Huskers got a lot of work on pass defense. They got to work on their onside kick unit. They found out what it was like to be pushed to the last play and almost got to work on their overtime game.
Wide Receiver Manuel Allen Flips From Nebraska To Louisville
The Nebraska Cornhuskers dropped back down to 11 commits on the season when Manuel Allen pulled a surprise and decommitted from Nebraska and committed to Bobby Petrino’s Louisville Cardinals. Surprised? We are too! Allen a 6-2 four-star wide receiver is rated the 182nd-best player in the nation by 247Sports composite in the 2018 cycle. He is rated as the 39th-best wide received in the nation, while being the 26th-best player in the state of California.
Nebraska Football: Tuesday Practice Report
Your Nebraska Cornhuskers are in week two of Fall Camp! They had a practice yesterday, today, and will tomorrow. But what makes today’s practice special is the media time after practice for some players and coaches! Since it’s a Tuesday, DC Bob Diaco and members of the defensive side of the ball were made available. Here are the highlights of today’s media session.
Nebraska Football: Huskers Not Ranked In First Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll Of 2017
The first Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll is out, and as expected, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are not in the Top 25. The Huskers did receive votes, but not enough to be ranked. The full initial Top 25: I spy at least three Nebraska opponents in the Top 25 with Ohio State, Penn State & Wisconsin making it. I do find it rather interesting that Oregon, a team being touted heavily as to watch in the preseason, is just above Nebraska in votes.
Nebraska Football: Storylines To Watch As Fall Practice Begins
You’ve probably never heard or seen Nebraska football start so early in your lifetimes. But, with the elimination of two-a-day practices, mandatory days off for players and a need to be prepared, the Huskers start their 2017 season this morning. How much patience does this fan base have? The 128th season of Nebraska football begins with several questions needing to be answered.
Nebraska Football: Huskers Add Former Texas/Texas A&M Defensive Coordinator Gary Darnell To Staff
Per this report by 247Sports’ Michael Bruntz, it appears that Nebraska has hired another person that Bob Diaco has worked with on the defensive side of the ball. Nebraska has hired Gary Darnell to the staff as a defensive consultant. Darnell, 68 years old, is probably famous enough to Nebraska fans as being a former Defensive Coordinator for the Texas Longhorns (1994-1996) & Texas A&M Aggies (2006-07), the former Big 12 mates of the Huskers.
Nebraska Football: Fall Camp Practice #1 Report
It’s practice number 1 of the 2017 Nebraska football season. While Nebraska will probably not work out much on Sundays, it was the first day for everyone this coming season. The Huskers worked just over 2 hours in helmets only per NCAA rules, which dictates that there be a 2 workout acclimation period before pads are donned. After practice, Mike Riley spoke to the media hordes that were there to not only report, but also to watch things go down.
Did adidas Tease The “New” Nebraska Football Jersey Online?
It appears that that Nebraska Football jersey that adidas has pimped has jumped the shark & given us a look. So, what does it look like? Well... What’s different? Mesh. The front of the jersey has the mesh looking numbers. They give a feel to harken back to 1997, the last National Championship year for the Huskers. Take this picture from 1997: ... and compare it with Tommy Armstrong last year. If the picture in the ad is to be believed, there’s a mesh figure to this year’s jersey.
Nebraska Football: Mike Riley’s Breakout Group Comments At Big Ten Media Days
Some interesting comments from the Huskers HC after his podium time. We’ve given you what Mike Riley had to say on the podium during Big Ten Media Days. Now, we’ll give you some comments that the Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach had in his breakout session away from the TV lights. If you remember, Morgan & Reed were busted for weed in Florida back in May. Even without commenting on a decision, Riley stated that he “was pleased with the steps” with both in how they have been progressing on the issue.
Nebraska Football: Cornerback Chris Jones Placed On Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Watch List
Another day, another watch list for a Nebraska Cornhusker. Jones was named Honorable Mention all-Big Ten by both the media & coaches last season. Jonest totalled 37 tackles, 3 interceptions & 10 pass breakups last season. Jones had a big interception for a TD vs. Indiana on the road last season, plus numerous big pass breakups.
Nebraska Football: Drew Brown Named To Lou Groza Award Watch List
Watch list time is abound with the start of Media Days, signaling that College Football is almost back! With that, Nebraska had been getting the 0-fer in these, but not today. The Lou Groza Award, which recognizes the best kicker in college football, released their watch list today. Nebraska senior Drew Brown was put on that list. Brown, out of Southlake Carroll HS in DFW, had a pretty good season last year. He was 12 of 14 in field goals last season, also going perfect in 38 extra points in 2016.
Nebraska Safeties Coach Bob Elliott Has Passed Away
There is a hole across college football this morning. Bob Elliott, one of the better defensive coaches that has been around the college game and just hired by Nebraska this past spring, has passed away. He was 64 years old. According to this by the Des Moines Register, Elliott passed in Iowa City on Saturday night with his family by his side. Elliott had just been hired by Nebraska as their Safeties coach after Brian Stewart left the staff.
Nebraska Football’s Five Most Underrated Quarterbacks Of The Past 20 Years
Here’s our nominations of the five most underrated QB’s of Nebraska Football since 1997. Brian: You can have many complaints about the Nebraska years under Bill Callahan, but one thing is for sure and that he got the QB part right with Taylor. After one year at Wake Forest, Taylor transferred to Butler County CC and then to Lincoln. After a mediocre 2005 season where he threw for 56% and 2600 yards, Taylor gave Nebraska a formidable attack with his Senior season.
Report: Nebraska Targeting Arkansas Head Coach Bret Bielema
Your Tressel in Lincoln stories are now invalid. At least, for the time being. According to this report by FootballScoop.com, Nebraska Cornhuskers Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst has his target in Arkansas Razorbacks Head Coach Bret Bielema as the next HC for Husker Football, as they are in "serious talks". Bielema, 44, has been at Arkansas for 2 seasons after leaving Wisconsin where he was the HC for 7 seasons, from 2006-12.
Scottsbluff 2019 Linebacker Garrett Nelson Commits To Nebraska Football
Last week, we told you about Garrett Nelson, the Scottsbluff linebacker that came to Friday Night Lights, left with a scholarship offer from Bob Diaco and Mike Riley, and was in tears over the offer in joy. Today, he makes his place in the 2019 recruiting class official. Nelson is not ranked by 247Sports yet, either with a state/position ranking, nor a star ranking.
Nebraska Safeties Coach Bob Elliott Steps Down, Scott Booker Becomes Safeties Coach
In a move that was out of the blue on Tuesday afternoon, Nebraska announced that recently hired safeties coach Bob Elliott would be stepping down from that role due to health issues. Elliott, who had to take an AD job with Notre Dame and be off the field due to health issues as well, was just hired in February by Mike Riley to help install Bob Diaco’s system. Elliott will be replaced on the field by Scott Booker, who was at Notre Dame as a special teams and tight ends coach from 2012-16.
WR Cameron Brown Decommits From Nebraska Football
It was probably the writing on the wall for Wideout Cameron Brown that he decided not to camp with Nebraska’s coaches in Lindenwood this weekend, instead taking a trip to Columbus to camp with Ohio State. The aftereffects of it just came down on Brown’s twitter just now. Cameron takes his name off of Nebraska’s list of commits, opening everything back up. Since he committed to Nebraska, Brown has seen his recruiting stock rise to a consensus four-star player with several services.
Nebraska Football Announces Kickoff Times For Five Football Games
The Nebraska Athletic Department announced Wednesday the times of five football games this coming fall. In addition to the Oregon matchup on the road, we now know the times of Northern Illinois, Rutgers, and the two Friday games vs. Illinois & Iowa. What changes a lot of things is that the new Big Ten TV contract is very heavily Fox Sports flavored, as the Black Friday game vs. the Hawkeyes moves from ABC to Fox Sports 1.
Nebraska Baseball’s Darin Erstad Named Big Ten Coach Of The Year
Postseason accolades were handed out today by the Big Ten Conference for the baseball season. Coach of the year is a familiar person. Nebraska HC Darin Erstad was named Big Ten Coach of the Year today, after he led his squad to their first ever Big Ten regular season conference title. Erstad, who took over the job as his very first head coaching gig, has guided the Huskers to a 34-18-1 record this season. Nebraska’s 16-7-1 conference record gave them the title over Michigan.
DB/WR Chase Williams Commits To Nebraska Football
We were told by Mike Riley that the Nebraska Cornhuskers would have a “tenth verbal” sometime by Friday. Brendan Radley-Hiles called his shot more yesterday. And, low and behold, we have another one. Wideout/Defensive Back Chase Williams of Corona, California, is the newest Nebraska verbal. Williams, who plays at Eleanor Roosevelt HS, is the 185th best player in the 2018 cycle, according to 247Sports’ composite.
Nebraska Football: Fullback Ben Miles Is Officially A Cornhusker
Mike Riley has been known as someone that folks around football can trust their kids with. Former LSU Head Coach Les Miles saw that, and when Ben Miles decided to come to Lincoln to play Fullback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, there was no hesitation by the Miles family. Ben has signed his Letter of Intent, and will be in Lincoln ready to contribute. Miles played HS football for Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

We've been told that the accident happened in or around Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Talking Nebraska Football's Defensive Roster With Mark Rogers
Three videos talking about the group that has to get better for Nebraska to improve their record from 2015. I hadn't talked Nebraska Cornhuskers Football with our friend Mark Rogers yet, so we went ahead and banged out three total shows. I put them all here for your pleasure. Mark does talk to a lot of sites (including SBN sites) and does good work on the video part of things, so I invite you to take on the rest of his YouTube channel right here.
Nebraska Football: Cali QB Tristan Gebbia Commits To The Huskers
#Calibraska commits to Lincoln once again. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have their Quarterback recruit for the 2017 recruiting cycle. The Huskers got their man today with the commitment of Calabasas, California Quarterback Tristan Gebbia Monday. Stadium Dr. Rumblings: Nebraska's Staff In-Home Tonight With Safety Target Isaiah Simmons
The Huskers get their in-home tonight with one of the top targets left on their board. It's time for the final push for targets, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are battling hard for Olahte, Kansas Safety target Isaiah Simmons. Simmons is set to visit Clemson this weekend, so this is a make or break time for the Nebraska coaching staff to get into the house and make their push as why he should be a Husker.
Former Nebraska Volleyball HC Terry Pettit Makes Statement On Nebraska Football Program
A famous coach at Nebraska talking about coaching at Nebraska. Former Nebraska Cornhuskers Volleyball Head Coach Terry Pettit had some interesting things to say in a tweet that came out at high noon on Wednesday. The tweet discussed the Football program, including Bo Pelini and Mike Riley. Oh, yes and an auto manufacturer.
Nebraska Unranked In First Associated Press Poll Of 2015
Eric Francis/Getty Images The Huskers start the season where they finished last year. To the surprise of no one, the Nebraska Cornhuskers were in the "receiving votes" part of the first Associated Press Poll for the 2015 Football season. The Huskers, who have a new Head Coach in Mike Riley, were unranked last year after their final game, a 45-42 loss to the Southern Cal Trojans. The poll is topped by the defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. TCU is second, with Alabama third.
Mike Riley Confirms 5 Suspensions For Nebraska In Season Opener, Givens Price Moves To Defensive Tackle
The Nebraska Cornhuskers had a odd day, and things got more odd after the end of the Thursday evening practice. Earlier, I told you about the Portland Tribune article, mainly about 5 players being suspended for the opener vs. the BYU Cougars on September 5th. Tonight, Head Coach Mike Riley confirmed there would be suspensions. However, there were no names. It's good that Riley, who wasn't supposed to talk to the media tonight after practice, owned up to the piece.
DiCaprio Bootle, CB From Miami (Fl) Southridge HS, Commits To Nebraska Thursday Afternoon
The speedster who the Huskers discovered at a Satellite Camp puts his hat in the ring. While it's not unexpected, the Nebraska Cornhuskers got a fast, fast player on Thursday afternoon. DiCaprio Bootle, a Cornerback from Miami Southridge HS in Florida, committed to the Huskers today. Bootle is currently visiting the staff in Lincoln and liked what he saw. Jim Delany: If You Want To Talk Satellite Camps, Lets Talk Oversigning & Greyshirting As Well
The Big Ten Commissioner gets down and dirty. Folks down in the Southeastern Conference have gotten in a tussle and fit about the act of Northern schools like Penn State, Michigan, and now Nebraska hosting "Satellite Camps" near SEC schools. The Huskers themselves are going to open up shop with these down near Georgia State University and such in June.
Former Nebraska LB And Color Commentator Adrian Fiala Passes Away
