Techsters' second half rally falls short 66-61 at Rice

A furious rally from a double digit deficit in the second half allowed Louisiana Tech to grab a late lead, but the Techsters were unable to sustain the momentum down the stretch, having their season come to an end 66-61 at the hands of Rice Thursday night in a first round WBIT battle. Tech had its troubles in the first half and couldn’t seize any kind of rhythm until the end of the third quarter and into the fourth. Tech (26-7) went on a 16-2 run that spanned both quarters.

Missouri State ends Tech's 19-game winning streak

In what can be described as a war of attrition offensively, Missouri State was effective just enough to end Louisiana Tech’s 19-game winning streak Saturday in the Conference USA Championship game in Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama. The Bears held Louisiana Tech (26-6) to just 12 second half points while scoring just enough to squeak out the 43-38 victory and keep the Techsters from winning their first CUSA title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Bearcats throttle Wilsonville 71-39

Instead of running routes through an overmatched secondary, KeShun Malcolm and Ahmad Hudson ran up and down the court on Wilsonville High of Oregon Saturday to lead Ruston to a dominating 71-39 victory at the Capitol City Classic at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. With the win, the Bearcats (3-0) move on to the tournament’s semifinals Monday, when they’ll take on the Tualatin Timberwolves (5-1) Monday at 9 p.m. Louisiana time.
