ALBANS — After discovering shared excitement for going down the slide at the Hard’Ack pool, Emmett Barch and Aia Gerard became fast friends at summer camp. “I go as fast as a greyhound on the slide,” Gerard said. “And I’ve got one cool jump,” Barch said. They are just two of 120 kids participating in St. Albans Recreation Department’s day camps this summer. Running every week from June 22 to Aug. 21, the camps provide full-day fun to kids ages 4-15.

While she has never before held elected office, Richards did spend the last decade as CEO of Let’s Grow Kids, the statewide lobbying group which successfully advocated for millions of public dollars to be invested in new and existing childcare centers to make care more affordable for families.

Rotary Club of St. Albans celebrates leadership change; Joe Halko to serve as next president

ST. ALBANS — The Rotary Club of St. Albans celebrated the changing of the guard this past month. Leon Berthiaume, club president for the last three years, steps aside today, July 1, making way for Joe Halko to assume presidential responsibilities. He will take the lead for the next two years. Rotarian Stacey Cauller also stepped up as president-elect. Other board members for the coming year include Erin Creley, Andy Crossman, Liz Gamache, Valdemar Garibay, Carrie Johnson and Carl Rosenquist.
