A local man has been charged in connection to a sexual assault incident on Canada Day. Belleville Police responded to an apartment complex in the city’s east end regarding a report of sexual assault that day. It was reported that a male drove a female to her residence and, prior to her exiting the vehicle, sexually assaulted her. The next day, police charged a 26-year-old Belleville man with sexual assault and failing to comply with a probation order.

An investigation into a damaged business early last month has resulted in charges this week. Around 9:20 a.m. on June 6, Belleville Police responded to a call for service on Front Street, where they were told by an employee arriving at work that a window had been broken overnight. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed a woman attending the business, kicking the window, and then fleeing the scene on foot. Through continued investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect.
