"I'd be shocked if Natalie Nalepa's 1997 course record of 33:43 isn't broken," he said. Allie Ostrander, out of Boulder, Colo., proved Cunningham correct, outrunning the deepest women's field in the race's 49-year history in record time.

Brom Hoban Kellyn Taylor isn't one to turn down a challenge. So when Statesman Cap10K elite athlete coordinator Jeff Cunningham reached out to her to join the roster for Sunday's race, she readily accepted. In February, the 39-year-old runner shattered the Austin Marathon's course record with a 2 hours, 33 minutes and 29 second clocking in what she described as a "training run." Three weeks later, on a warm day, she placed second in the LA Marathon in a national-class 2:27:37.
