I wish to thank the many people in and around Camden for their support of a Rotary International project to buy portable generators for the people of Kyiv, Ukraine, who have endured a bitterly cold winter with very limited access to power due to targeted Russian attacks on their energy infrastructure. On many days, they received power from the grid for only two to four hours.

GUEST OPINION: Partisan political activism dominates teachers' union

On May 9, the D-11 teachers union, the Colorado Springs Education Association (CSEA), voted to authorize a one-day strike for the upcoming fall. As an 18-year D-11 business teacher and former CSEA negotiating spokesman, I oppose this strike, and I oppose the partisan political activism that now dominates the union. I’ve dedicated nearly two decades to this district and have sought opportunities to serve to help students succeed and ensure schools run effectively.

If the pozole at Azusa Unified School District tastes like it came from your grandmother’s kitchen, don’t be surprised. To find the perfect recipe for this delicious and hearty Mexican soup, their school food team held a contest. Staff cooked family recipes, voted on favorites and served the winning dish to their students. Azusa isn’t the only district putting tastier, better-for-you meals on the menu.
