Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first journalism job was in high school reporting for the nationally-syndicated Teen Kids News on evergreen topics and fun features.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram!

Why did you become a journalist?

My high school newspaper allowed me to cover hard news stories and dig into policy issues - which eventually showed the power of reporting.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

In high school, I launched the newspaper's website and served as the Online Editor for two years after one year of reporting.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My best work was on a year-long court case about three students being sexually assaulted on a school field trip by another student.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Never turn down a single opportunity that's related to media in anyway. Take advantage of everything and learn as much as you can.
