When Alabama shot-putter Isaac Odugbesan received a direct message purportedly from a WWE talent scout, he didn’t know how to respond. So he didn’t. For a week. “I did some more research and then I realized, ‘Oh, no, this is legit,’” he said. So legit that Odugbesan was a member of WWE’s first NIL (“Next In Line”) class in 2021 of 15 college athletes, a growing part of the company’s talent development pipeline.
