Where we could exist freely, out in the open air to party and play and come together in community, without fear. Of course, that place does exist: Fire Island Pines, just off the coast of Southeastern New York, which has been a safe haven for the gays for nearly 90 years. But just because it’s been around for generations of gays, that doesn’t mean it always will be.
