What was your first job as a journalist?

Assistant Editor at at LeftLion Magazine Nottingham, which I am still doing.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No but I would definitely like to for the vibes, maybe when I own a house and have a wife.

How is social media changing news?

It diversifies and expands the viewpoints, allowing for a fragmentation of what once was a gate of communication overseen by journalists

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Tintin.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Facilitating communication, clarity, co-operation and optimism between different sectors and industries.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Either via email or phone call.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Right now, it's Umbraco CMS, Google Drive, Microsoft word and Otter AI.

What's your favorite social network?

It is Bluesky right now

Why did you become a journalist?

Simply to make a difference through my talents: writing, researching and overthinking.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

My school didn't have one, but I worked as editor in chief of the student led music magazine at my University.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Writing about the nomadic, rave-y 90s or profiling Nottingham pub The Angel.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be enthusiastic about whichever path you're taking, be personable, ask questions to everybody and chip away at imposter syndrome.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Mid afternoon.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A pitch promoting musician LEILAH from London publicists Sugar Factory.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

"Hello we're creating VR funerals"

What's your favorite drink?

Blue moon beer or ginger beer

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At indie music gigs, walking through green spaces and thinking/speaking to people, skating, running, reading.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Probably GQ, for the great writing.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I don't really have a beat yet.
