Abstract Nonsense mutations introduce premature termination codons (PTCs), leading to mRNA degradation and the production of truncated, non-functional proteins. These mutations account for approximately 10% of TP53 alterations, a key driver in over 50% human cancers. Effective therapeutic strategies to restore full-length functional p53 remain limited.

The building where an entire city lives: from Le Corbusier to the Begich Towers case

In Whittier, a small town in southern Alaska nestled amongst the inlets of Prince William Sound and surrounded by glaciers, live 272 residents, at least 200 of whom inhabit in the same building, the Begich Towers Condominium. The 14-storey complex stands out not really for its aesthetic qualities as for a certain military austerity: it was built between 1954 and 1957 as the Hodge Building, headquarters of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

A Whittier, cittadina nel sud dell’Alaska incastonata fra le insenature del Prince William Sound e accerchiata dai ghiacciai, vivono 272 abitanti, di cui almeno 200 risiedono nello stesso edificio, il Begich Towers Condominium. Il complesso di 14 piani non risalta tanto per qualità estetica, quanto per una certa austerità militare: nasce infatti tra 1954 e 1957 come Hodge Building, quartier generale del Corpo di ingegneri dell’esercito degli Stati Uniti.
