AFTER AN ESTIMATED 6.3 million Americans went to see the new Michael Jackson biopic in late April, simply titled “Michael,” the short-form reaction videos started flooding social media. Some that caught my attention featured artists comparing themselves to the likes of The King of Pop. Jackson had an undeniable work ethic, and it appeared that some performers, singers, painters or dancers took to social media post-movie to either exclaim their inspiration or posit on their perceived shortcomings.
