What was your first job as a journalist?

I got to write a beauty product recap during my internship with Seventeen Magazine. Does that count?

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Not since grade school typing lessons (I just dated myself)

How is social media changing news?

Faster consumption, growing appetite for content from readers. Media needs to engage, but remain cautious.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To Storytell with objectivity and integrity.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Everyday something makes me laugh, I have lost track. Must be that short social media attention span...

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email, keep it short & sweet! To the point with links for background is great, please and thank you.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram, followed by Twitter.

Melinda Gates.

Why did you become a journalist?

I have always been drawn to hearing peoples stories, connecting with others.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did not, but I was a voracious reader.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Loved blogging for The New Yorker + Canadian Tourism Commission partnership, covering summer festivals across Canada,rediscovering my Country

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish" but do it with style & again, integrity.
