Bill Miller, Mark Wegner will be LCS umpire crew chiefs
NEW YORK -- Bill Miller will umpire his 10th League Championship Series and be joined as an LCS crew chief by Mark Wegner. Miller, 59, made his big league debut in 1997 and enters the American League Championship Series with 126 career postseason games, second among active umpires to Alfonso Márquez's 130. Miller is fifth overall, also trailing Gerry Davis (151), Ted Barrett (138) and Joe West (132).

LONG BEACH (KABC) -- What organizers call a "precautionary course adjustment" will be made for Sunday's 42nd annual Long Beach Marathon, rerouting approximately a mile-and-a-half of the course away from the beachfront path just before mile 8 due to the forecast of elevated tides and oceanfront conditions. The 26-mile, 385-yard marathon course starts on Shoreline Drive at Shoreline Village Drive.

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico -- Hurricane Simon was pounding Mexico's Pacific coast as a Category 4 storm on Sunday, its eye remaining just offshore as its most powerful winds and rain slammed people living between the Sierra Madre and the ocean. Simon's eye was moving northward just off the coast, and forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center said it's not clear if it will make landfall. This could mean Simon maintains its extremely dangerous strength, sustaining winds of 150 mph.
