Published: July 09, 2026 at 4:49PM EDT A bicycle pictured at the intersection of 71 Avenue and Macleod Trail in Calgary on Thursday, July 9, 2026. A cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries when they were hit by a minivan in south Calgary on Thursday. Police say officers were called to the scene at 71 Avenue and Macleod Trail, south of Chinook Centre, just at 1:38 p.m. The driver of the van is uninjured and remained at the scene.

A 31-year-old man is facing several charges in connection with a stabbing in Sunalta earlier this week. Calgary police say officers were called to the site of a stabbing that occurred outside the Sunalta CTrain station on Tuesday at 7 a.m. after a person was stabbed.

Noise complaints up for Calgary Stampede music festivals: city

Published: July 06, 2026 at 7:11PM EDT Crowds in line outside of the Cowboys Music Festival Tent in 2024. The City of Calgary says the first four days of the Calgary Stampede have yielded dozens of noise complaints, with an increased number of complaints connected to two of the event’s biggest music festivals. A Monday news release said the city has received 70 noise complaints for Stampede-related events across the city from July 2 to July 5.
