THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING, ISIS, AND THE BLACK FLAGS OF KHORASAN
When the FBI named the Tsarnaev brothers persons of interest in the bombing of the Boston Marathon, an extensive search for a motive began. But in all the shuffling and conspiracy-hashing, most reporters missed clues indicating that the suspects had been swept up in a mission rooted in a marginal and much-disputed Islamic prophecy about apocalypse-and the proper role for religious heroes.
BOSTON'S MARATHON APOCALYPSE
In hashing out what happened on that dark day three years ago, it's important to consider the Bay State's history as an apocalyptic ground zero There is no shining beacon on the hill in Boston. There is a shiny gold dome capping the Massachusetts State House just a short walk down to the site of the Boston Marathon bombing. When the Tsarnaev brothers were announced as suspects in the 2013 attack, the search began for a motive.

LONE WOLVES AND SLEEPER CELLS
Following the terrorist attacks in January on the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo and a kosher supermarket in Paris, numerous media reports claimed the incidents shared a common aspect with the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing: namely, that both involved perpetrators who were "lone wolves," and who engaged in "leaderless resistance." This is false.

Theocracy and White Supremacy: Behind the Culture War to Restore Traditional Values
The first version of this article appeared in December 1992, and reviewed the role of Dominionism inside the Christian Right. To understand the Tea Party of today, it helps to see where the trend emerged. As the United States slides toward the twenty-first century, the major mass movements challenging the bipartisan status quo are not found on the left of the political spectrum, but on the right. The resurgent right contains several strands woven together around common themes and goals.
| Hagee, Hitler Pushed Almost Identical anti-Jewish Banking Conspiracy Theories
John Hagee Ministries packaged Hagee's three sermon series, given March 9, 16 and 23 of 2003, shortly before and after the US invasion of Iraq, into a set titled "Iraq: The Final War" and mass marketed it. The series was at least sold through Hagee's Cornerstone Church bi-monthly magazine and also via the Internet, off John Hagee's Cornerstone Church/John Hagee Ministries website.

Toxic to Democracy
In his 2009 report, Toxic to Democracy: Conspiracy Theories, Demonization, & Scapegoating, former PRA Senior Analyst Chip Berlet traces the roots of conspiracism throughout U.S. and European history and challenges it as a form of political analysis. Modern conspiracism is rooted in bigotry, especially antisemitism and racism.

When Venomous Speech Provokes Physical Violence
When a well-known person denounces a specific group of people—claiming for instance they don’t deserve full citizenship, or they are a threat to the nation—the result can be a violent act against any person perceived to be in the targeted group. How do we know this? Sadly, the answer emerges from the horrific mass murders in Europe in the 20th century and the role of mass media in speeding information to a large audience.

Rural rage: the roots of right-wing populism in the United States

Republicans with a Fascist Heritage:Laszlo Pasztor » Chip Berlet's Blogsite: Research for Progress
The Bush administration works with former Arrow Cross official Laszlo Pasztor, a convicted Nazi collaborator. Pasztor told us he has helped arrange White House briefings on Hungary and helped channel National Endowment for Democracy tax dollars to his friends in Hungary, all despite his much-publicized “resignation” from the ethnic arm of George Bush’s 1988 presidential campaign. Having lost the battle to impose fascism on Europe, Pasztor emigrated to the United States.

Progress in human welfare and peaceful relations is never assured. It is always a struggle, and human rights activists are at the forefront. To join the struggle most effectively, we need to know about the forces that oppose human rights: who they are, what they believe, how they mobilize, what strategies and tactics they employ, and who they intend to target and convert.

Alt-Right: A Primer on the Online Brownshirts
Alt-Right began as an online phenomenon that mushroomed into a poisonous cloud of misogynist, white nationalist, and anti-Left propaganda. Its basic thrust was aimed at collapsing democracy and human rights in the United States on behalf of economic and political elites.[1] Its voice is that of macho male gasbags polluting the public sphere with self-aggrandizing masturbatory messages.

Trumping Democracy in the United States
Donald Trump announced his campaign for the Presidential nomination of the Republican Party on June 16, 2015. The business mogul mobilized a huge, angry constituency that was overwhelmingly white. They were attracted to Trump’s campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again." Great again for whom? Trump’s campaign was marked by his vicious and inflammatory rhetoric infused with white racism, misogyny, Islamophobia, and anti-immigrant xenophobia.
