1 Introduction Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a vital component of business strategy, aiming to generate a positive influence on society (Wang et al. 2015), manage legitimacy threats, and meet stakeholders' expectations (Muttakin et al. 2022). A corporate political donation is an instrumental strategy to influence the political and regulatory system and proactively manage environmental risks stemming from poor environmental performance (Muttakin et al. 2021).
