Since discovered decades ago, cellulose nanocrystal (CNC), an important type of nanocellulose, has been drawing a great deal of attention and interest due to its outstanding properties [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], such as high crystallinity, low density, ultra-strong mechanical strength, good biocompatibility, renewability and biodegradability, etc.

3. Results SEM images of cotton, puffed rice, pleurotus eryngii, and their activated samples are shown in Figure 2. The cotton exhibited a slender strip structure, while the puffed rice and pleurotus eryngii presented a scaly layer and 3D network structure, respectively.
