DUI Task Force: Zero alcohol related injuries or fatalities over holiday weekend
The holidays are always a time for celebration and good times. For some, good times involve partaking in an alcoholic beverage. While this on its own can mostly be harmless, it's when some decide to drink and drive that things can go from bad to worse. That’s what Idaho State Police Sgt. Justin Scotch, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Patrol Captain Jeff Lee, and the rest of the North Idaho DUI Task Force were looking to prevent this last weekend. “Our main goal is target zero,” Scotch said.

The top leadership positions at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office officially have new, yet also familiar, faces as of last Thursday. Shoshone County, Silver Mountain tax saga nears end
It was more than five years ago that Shoshone County and Silver Mountain Resort squared off in what has become a lengthy legal battle over what the value of the resort is and how much it should be taxed. The whole legal battle first began in July 2017 when Silver Mountain owner Tryg Fortun appealed the county assessor’s appraised value of his then newly acquired property — essentially asking the county to lower the value of the property.
Lindsey selected as Sheriff
WALLACE — There's a new Sheriff in town, but she's anything but a stranger to Shoshone County. Following the retirement of Sheriff Mike Gunderson earlier this month, the Shoshone County Board of County Commissioners selected longtime Undersheriff Holly Lindsey to take the reins Monday morning and serve out the remainder of his term. Sworn in at the courthouse in Wallace, Lindsey took the oath to a room full of supportive family, friends and colleagues. "It's surreal," she said of the appointment.

OPD now accepting Shop-with-a-Cop applications, donations
In a county with a fairly high child-poverty rate, it’s a regrettable fact that some Silver Valley children just don’t have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Christmas experience. When families are on a budget, filling the space under the Christmas tree simply can’t be done sometimes. For the sixth year in a row though, the Osburn Police Department and other participating agencies are hoping to fix that for some by hosting the annual Shop-with-a-Cop program on Dec. 17 and 18.
