MP COLUMN: Hillsborough Law will change the balance of power
Warrington North Labour MP Charlotte Nichols shares her views in this week's column. THIRTY-SEVEN years is far too long to wait for justice. They want those cases, and more, to be heard by magistrates.

Charlotte Nichols: ‘The government is blocking me from getting the treatment I need’
In 2021 I was the victim of a crime that resulted in me being diagnosed with PTSD. I manage my condition – which I can expect to live with perhaps indefinitely – with venlafaxine, an antidepressant, benzodiazepines for my sleep, and regular therapy. These drugs, at the moment, are about the best that the NHS can offer to people with PTSD.

It isn’t an easy time to be a new Jewish Labour MP-but it’s an important one
I’m sentimental at the best of times, but as we enter a new decade, I have reason to be. Even before I was elected as the new Labour MP for Warrington North two weeks ago, the last ten years had already totally transformed every aspect of my personal life: I left home, graduated, converted to Judaism, fell in love, came out, tasted loss, and learned self-acceptance. Then came the single proudest and most defining moment of my life. It’s a particularly febrile climate to be entering Parliament.
I’m Not Running for Myself, I’m Running for My Class
It’s been a whirlwind few days, following Helen Jones’ announcement that she would be retiring after twenty-two years as MP for Warrington North. My decision, therefore, to put my name forward was by definition a last minute one — but I am delighted to say that it is the best I have ever made, having been selected as Labour’s new Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington North.

Why I’m glad Corbyn came to the Jewdas Seder
Last night I attended a Seder to celebrate the Jewish festival of Pesach (Passover), held in Islington by a group called Jewdas. Because Jeremy Corbyn came to celebrate with us. Jeremy could not have been a more gracious guest.
