Bob Marley biopic gets more love
LOS ANGELES — For a second straight week, biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” continues to exceed expectations by claiming the No. 1 spot at the box office, overcoming two debut films and Sony's “Madame Web” that's still producing subpar numbers. The Paramount film starring Kingsley Ben-Adir pulled in $13.5 million during its second week of release. The project, which was produced for about $70 million, already eclipsed that mark, grossing nearly $72 million domestically in North America.

How Ziggy Marley helped bring the authenticity to ‘Bob Marley: One Love’
People had been coming to Ziggy Marley and his family for years with ideas about how to turn reggae icon Bob Marley’s life into a movie. But it never felt quite right, until a few years ago when they decided to be the instigators. “It was just a feeling,” Ziggy Marley said of getting his father's life on screen in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

‘Bob Marley: One Love’ doesn’t stir
Bob Marley was born in 1945, the son of an 18-year-old mother and a much older white man who had nothing to do with his son. As a boy raised in poverty, he often slept on the cold ground. Five years after moving to Kingston’s Trench Town, he made his first record, at 17. Not 20 years later, he was dead. By then, Marley had become the face of not just reggae, Rastafarianism and Jamaica, but of revolution, resistance and peace.

"Saltburn" Is the Y2K Movie We Never Saw Coming
Chiabella James/Prime Video Perverse. Unhinged. Horrifying. Horny. Deliciously bad, but also perhaps the best movie of 2023. These are just a few ways in which critics – mostly people on X (formerly known as Twitter) – have described “Saltburn,” the new film from director Emerald Fennell. The eat-the-rich storyline is one everyone sort of expected.

Review: Tennis comes 2nd in inspirational ‘King Richard’
“ King Richard ” is exactly what you think it will be, which isn’t a bad thing.
For Will Smith, a break point leads to 'King Richard'
Will Smith wouldn’t seem an obvious candidate for a midlife crisis. Hugely successful, immensely popular, indefatigably sunny.
Denis Villeneuve shares his struggles to finish Dune film in quarantine
Photo by Chiabella James The director says the pandemic has ‘crushed’ his schedule 3August 2020 While a multitude of films and TV series have been suspended or pushed back amid coronavirus and quarantine – from big-budget Mulan to HBO’s Euphoria – Denis Villeneuve has been pushing on with Dune. The upcoming, highly-anticipated remake is still on course for its December 18 release, starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya.
Denis Villeneuve spent a whole year redesigning Dune’s sandworms
Photo by Chiabella James Let’s hope the creatures faced by Timothée Chalamet get a better reception than David Lynch’s 1984 version Frank Herbert’s epic science fiction novel Duneis notoriously difficult to adapt for the big screen, so it’s no surprise that Denis Villeneuve has been taking his time to perfect every detail in his upcoming adaptation.
