Abstract Background: Tirzepatide (TZP), a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, demonstrates anti-inflammatory properties that may benefit patients with asthma and type 2 diabetes (T2D). We sought to assess the comparative effectiveness of TZP versus other antidiabetic agents in reducing acute asthma exacerbations among patients with concurrent asthma and T2D.

Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists and Risk of Tuberculosis in Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract Tuberculosis remains a leading cause of illness and death worldwide, and individuals with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of developing this infection. However, whether different glucose-lowering medications influence this risk is unclear. Here we show that use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists is associated with a lower risk of tuberculosis compared with several commonly prescribed alternatives.

Abstract Insomnia in older adults with dementia is commonly treated with benzodiazepines (BZDs) and Z drugs, despite safety concerns. Evidence on dual orexin receptor antagonists (DORAs) in this population remains limited. Therefore, this study aimed to compare safety outcomes of DORAs versus BZDs/Z drugs in older adults with dementia and insomnia. This retrospective observational cohort study used electronic health records from TriNetX Global Collaborative Network.
