Nigeria, July 20 -- A state high court in Ogidi, Anambra State, has convicted and sentenced a choirmaster, James Onuorah, to 25 years' imprisonment for raping and impregnating a 16-year-old girl during deliverance session in the state. The court also sentenced the defendant to seven years' imprisonment for offensive conduct, Punch newspaper reported.

Nigeria, July 19 -- A state high court in Enugu State has convicted and sentenced a self-acclaimed prophet, Godwin Ajuluchukwucheya, to one-year imprisonment for defrauding his church members of N136.4 million. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted Mr Ajuluchukwucheya, according to a statement by the commission's spokesman, Dele Oyewale, on Friday.
