Despite the racist history of this nation, former Cook County Judge Arnette Hubbard is urging Black Americans to celebrate the Fourth of July in recognition of the many contributions African Americans have made throughout the history of the United States. When Thomas Jefferson and other members of the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the document declared the 13 colonies free from British rule.

Rainbow PUSH Coalition honors Spencer Leak Jr.’s legacy

Dr. Donna Leak, widow of Leak & Sons Funeral Homes Vice President Spencer Leak Jr., made a surprise appearance at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition last Saturday, revealing that her husband was an organ donor whose final act of generosity helped several families through organ transplantation. Leak died on May 31 at age 56. Organ donation, she said, was her husband’s last act of kindness and a blessing to families awaiting transplants.

Rainbow PUSH opens conference with Youth Day
