One of the biggest stories of 2025, albeit in the relatively cloistered world of Houston art, was the opening of Inman Gallery’s new space at 1502 Alabama Street. Located just a few steps away from Retrospect Coffee Bar and Axelrad Beer Garden, the 8,500-square-foot building, with three distinct interior spaces carved out for separate exhibitions, was once an auto-body shop and previously home to the Station Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) has announced its round of 2025–2028 Core Grant Recipients, including four arts organizations in Texas. Houston’s DiverseWorks and Project Row Houses (PRH), the Austin-based nonprofit presenting organization Fusebox, and Sala Diaz in San Antonio have each received $150,000 to be distributed over three years. In earlier rounds, Core Grants were $50,000 over one year, applicable as general operating funds for arts nonprofits.
