Chris Carter has finally assembled the director’s cut of his 2008 supernatural thriller, aka. The R-rated version lands on streaming just as Ryan Coogler prepares a full franchise reboot for a new generation. Titled The X-Files: I Want to Believe — Vrach Frankenshteyn, this darker edition will be releasing on August 14 on Disney+ and Hulu. Carter co-wrote the original with Frank Spotnitz and directed it himself, but studio demands forced him to trim horror elements and secure a PG-13 rating.
