I edit two rural weekly countywide newspapers, and occasionally contribute pieces to sister papers within the same company’s stable.
I have written for a variety of mediums through the years and have a bachelor’s and M.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University.

I have also written in other mediums, and recently completed a collection of short fiction titled Nobody Comes to Visit Anymore.

WOODVILLE – The New World Screwworm has raised statewide concerns, as the number of confirmed cases has risen to 15, as of Sunday. While federal and state agencies are working together the eradicate the parasitic fly, Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a statewide disaster declaration in response. At the county level, an informational meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 at the Nutrition Center in Woodville.

Arrest yields more than a pound of meth

Gregory Pena Jason Yandell WOODVILLE – Two men are behind bars after deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office arrested them and discovered a large amount of methamphetamine with them. The arrest occurred last week, on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, according to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford. Weatherford said that the deputies who were on patrol stopped a Nissan automobile on US 190 West near the Tyler County Airport for a traffic violation.
