WASHINGTON — Paul Avery, the actor best known for playing the bartender Hughie on "All My Children" for more than a decade, died in a house fire this week alongside his wife in New Jersey. He was 81. The death of Paul and Sheila Garry Avery was confirmed by the couple's son on Facebook on June 16. "I’m devastated to share that our parents, Paul and Sheila Garry Avery, passed away early this morning," Kyle Avery posted.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday sided unanimously with a Texas marijuana user in a Second Amendment case asking whether it was constitutional to ban certain drug users from owning firearms. Justice Neil Gorsuch delivered the court's opinion, writing that the government's persecution of a Texas man who owned guns while admitting to regularly using marijuana was unconstitutional and violated the man's Second Amendment rights.
