What was your first job as a journalist?
Assistant editor with the National Association for Interpretation.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I've used many. I still have an old Royal typewriter. It's the same model from the 50s or 60s that my grandmother had.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Via email with a unique idea or piece of equipment to test.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The 14ers guidebook I wrote for FalconGuides and any writing where I get to connect the outdoors with sustainability.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Weekdays in the afternoon.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Outdoors, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, skiing or trying something new.
