It seemed especially fitting that I come to this gig. Not only is this one of my favourite venues, but the last time I was here it was to see Fish on his farewell tour last year. I know I shouldn’t compare Fish and modern-day Marillion, but I’m going to anyway because that’s what most people would do, I think. When they were together Fish and Marillion caught lightning in a bottle, and Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at straws are two of the best albums ever made.

Dow I’m surprised there aren’t more horror movies about worms. They are pretty gross. Gross, but hardly threatening. All they are is a mouth and an arsehole on opposite ends of a tube. More ew than eek. They have no teeth, legs, or wings. They can’t even see.

Horror fiction reviewer Milt Theodossiou recently got his hands on X7. Read on for his verdict. And follow him here. Ten short stories of mostly super-dark urban horror, the themes ranging from bugs and ghosts, to sci fi, and even smut! It’s quite impressive to find so many themes together in a quick read of this size – and the writing never disappoints: precise, balanced, atmospheric, occasionally cerebral, always polished and substantial. I’ll say a few words on each story.
