Summerfest was a free community celebration that was headlined this year by the grand opening of Sharon Nesbit Heritage Park — a new green space and trail that runs along the Sandy River and offers new places to gather, play and connect with the outdoors.

The Sandy Mountain Festival is just around the corner, and that means days filled with fun, from a community parade and artist booths, to the heralded return of the carnival and Queen’s court. The two-day Sandy Mountain Festival will be held Saturday-Sunday, July 11-12, at Meinig Park, 17670 Meinig Ave., with a huge array of activities. There are also several lead-up events to the main shindig. Everything begins with the Sandy Mountain Festival Parade, which draws more than 5,000 people to town.

Children had a ball during the return of an annual outing that is all about teaching sports fundamental and having a whole lot of fun. During the 2026 Play Ball Gresham the youth participants chased down tricky pop-ups in the outfield; showcased some deft footwork corralling grounders; swung for the fences against some celebrity pitchers; and tossed the ball around with their friends. Play Ball is an annual summer baseball/softball clinic.
