SOUTHARD, Okla. - USG Corporation plans to idle its manufacturing facility in Southard, Oklahoma, and phase out most of the industrial products produced at the plant, the company announced Thursday. The company said work to idle the facility will begin in the coming months, with the shutdown expected to take place in fall 2026. Employees were notified of the decision Thursday, according to information provided to News 9.

EDMOND, Okla. - Edmond’s Pelican Bay Aquatic Center has reopened following the completion of a $7-million renovation project, city officials say. In a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, city leaders reopened the 25-year-old pool, which closed in 2025 to undergo renovations approved by voters in the 2017 capital improvement projects tax. Officials say the 25-year-old park has been a key for children to learn water safety and improve their swimming skills.
