Tulsa, Okla. - What is Lipfendra? Lipfendra is a new prescription medication approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to lower LDL, or low-density lipoprotein, cholesterol. Developed by Merck, it is the first oral medication in the PCSK9 inhibitor drug class. Until now, PCSK9 inhibitors have only been available as injectable medications. How does it work? Lipfendra blocks a protein called PCSK9, allowing the liver to remove more LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream.

Oklahoma sends additional rescue teams to respond to flooding in Texas
OKLAHOMA - Oklahoma deployed five additional swift water rescue teams to Texas on Thursday. The teams will assist emergency responders with ongoing rescue and recovery efforts following the catastrophic flooding that began in the Guadalupe River Basin on July 4. The team of 43 is taking 10 boats, trailers and other equipment to assist with flood response efforts.
Some Cyclosporiasis cases in Oklahoma linked to Taco Bell, officials say
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma State Department of Health has confirmed in a statement that a number of Oklahoma cases of cyclosporiasis can be linked to the shredded lettuce outbreak being investigated by the FDA. Currently, at least 56 cases of cyclosporiasis have been laboratory-confirmed in Oklahoma, as reported on the OSDH website. OSDH is collaborating with the FDA to trace sources of infection, including the Taylor Farms shredded lettuce source discovered by an FDA investigation.
