EA's Saudi PIF Acquisition Cleared by Regulators, Closing Expected Next Week

Electronic Arts says it has obtained all required regulatory approvals for its $55 billion acquisition by a Saudi-led investor consortium, with the deal expected to close next week. The update comes via a new SEC filing published on Thursday, in which EA confirmed that all regulatory hurdles have been cleared (h/t VGC). The publisher now expects the merger to be completed on or around the close of trading on August 4, provided the remaining customary closing conditions are met or waived.

Additionally, we have retained the PI cost of Drag Tires, meaning any tune that currently exists, for example, a tune that is A 700 will not change PI, but it will have significantly reduced cornering performance. The team are aware that this means there are a lot of Leaderboard entries that will need to be removed. This will be an ongoing process as we work to identify and remove any lap times that were set using Drag Tires prior to this patch.
