What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked in internal comms roles at IBM for 15 years and started freelancing about 4 years ago after *e-tiring" from Big Blue.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
With a deep knowledge of my own area of expertise and the beat I cover.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I am a PC user after 15 years in marketing and communications at IBM. I use both Word and Excel as well as Google Docs and Sheets.
Why did you become a journalist?
To share my passion for technology's powerful role in transforming people's lives in the global borderless community.
When's the best time to pitch you?
I prefer early afternoon. I've had the morning to work and catch up on email and am ready to dig into new territory.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The writer was familiar with my portfolio and pitched a story that would expand on a topic I'd recently written about.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Something too vague and delivered with a poorly written and generic sounding letter of transmittal.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it does not have long term cultural and societal implications.
